My holiday is (unfortunately) over and I have returned to winter and work. The trip to Thailand was AMAZING and I was not ready to return. (Thailand specific blog posts to follow). I am however, settling into a new semester of teaching with some wonderful improvements.
1. I actually knew what I was teaching when I showed up at school the first day.
2. I now know my way around and the ways of the school.
3. I only had to memorize 19 new names, and I already have them down.
4. I don't have to waste time doing days of rules and course outlines because my kids know the rules and the dire consequences of not handing in their homework.
5. I get to teach drama instead of English 11.
6. I just returned from a tropical vacation, rather than just graduated and travelled across the world.
Overall, I have high hopes for this new semester. I am glad that I have the classes I was told I would have at the start of the year, and I am so grateful to have at least a semester of experience to guide my teaching. Although it is not much, I definitely feel less lost!
Although I am swamped for the next few weeks, I will post on my month in Thailand. I have to get back in the saddle for teaching, and I have a four day field trip to Qindao this week. However, here are some pictures to tide over my voracious readers (that is a shout out to you Grandma!).
